Discover Video Transcoder

DVT is a video format transcoder that accepts a live stream in one form and delivers it in another form. For example, converting a live MPEG-2 stream to a lower bit rate H.264 Flash stream; converting a live Windows Media stream to a H.264 Flash stream; or converting a live high bit rate Flash stream into one or more lower bit rate Flash streams.

Input Types

  • H.264/AAC via RTMP (Flash)
  • H.264/AAC via RTSP
  • MPEG-2 Transport Stream via IP multicast
  • MPEG-2 Elementary Stream via IP multicast
  • Windows Media via http or mms
  • Files in a watch folder

Output Types

  • H.264/AAC via RTMP (Flash) push
  • Windows Media via http push or pull
  • H.264/AAC .mp4 file

Capacity

The capacity of the DVT is purely a function of available CPU, and the output video resolution.  Typically at least 30 simultaneous live transcodes can be configured on a dual CPU Windows server, more with low resolution and fewer with high resolution.

Additional Features

DVT also supports the following
  • Automatic thumbnail creation of live video very N seconds
  • Watermark/image insert into the transcoded stream
  • On-the-fly changes
  • Simple, XML based configuration
  • Runs as a service, requires no user action
