Probably the easiest way to display digital signage in DEVOS is to use Google Slides as the source for the content. What makes this so simple for users is that any changes made to the Google Slides presentation will automatically update to the digital signage template in DEVOS without any need to visit or log in to the DEVOS website. Follow these steps to create a Google Slides presentation and assign it to a digital signage template in DEVOS.
NOTE: Your DEVOS account must have the Manage Signage privilege assigned to your account to create and manage digital signage. If your account does not have this privilege, contact a DEVOS administrator for assistance.
Step 1 - Create the Google Slides Presentation
Step 2 - Publish the Google Slides Presentation
In order to display the presentation in DEVOS, the presentation must be published to the public Internet. In order to do this, you must first share the presentation with others so that anyone can see it. Do this by selecting Share from the file menu and selecting "Share with others" as shown here:
Then set the share setting to "Anyone with the link" as shown here:
Anyone with the link Then, select Publish to the Web from the Share section of the file menu in Google Slides as shown below.
Step 3 - Set the Presentation Parameters and Publish
In the publishing settings, set the duration each slide should be displayed and make sure the checkboxes for "Start slideshow as soon as the player loads" and "Restart the slideshow after the last slide" are both checked. Then click the Publish button.
Step 4 - Copy the Published Link
Copy the link shown as it is below. Make sure that the query strings "start=true", "loop=true", and "delayms=x" where x is the number of milliseconds for each slide to appear on the screen.
Step 5 - Create the Signage Template in DEVOS
Log in to DEVOS and go to the Admin Portal. In the Admin Portal, click Signage.
Click on Add New Signage.
Select Google Slides as the signage type.
Give your Google Slides signage template a name and paste the published link from Step 4 above into the Web URL field. Optionally, you can add a URL for audio, as well. There are links available on the DEVOS help page for some free music to use for this, if you so choose. Then, set the number of minutes for DEVOS to check Google and refresh the link in order to get any changes made to the presentation.
Once you are finished, click save to save the new Google Slides digital signage template. Copy the Signage ID and enter it into your SignStick or Digital Signage Media Player to display the signage.
