Powering SignSticks from a TV USB

Powering SignSticks from a TV USB

Discover Video does not currently support powering SignSticks from the USB port on a television. We instead recommend powering the SignStick from a wall outlet with the power adapter provided with the device. The problem that we have seen in testing and have had reported to Discover Video by clients comes primarily from turning off the TV and turning it back on. Different TVs behave differently, and some appear not to provide either sufficient or consistent power either during the TV's boot up cycle. They may also not provide sufficient or consistent power while fully powered on, as well. If you turn on a TV that has a SignStick connected to it by USB for power, you may get either a Windows boot error, or in some cases the SignStick simply will not reconnect to the network - particularly when the SignStick is connected to the network via ethernet cable.
