Sending the HDMI Output of a Set Top Box to an Encoder

There may be times when it is useful to connect the HDMI output of a Discover Video Set Top Box to an encoder or other device such as a converter to another connection type. Connecting the output to an encoder could provide a way to send the stream to another server or streaming service. This can normally be done, but it may require a specific setting in the Set Top Box to allow it to work. Here is how you set that setting.
Connect the Set Top Box to a monitor and use the remote control to go in to the Settings with the gear button as shown below.

Settings button on the remote control

On the settings screen that follows, click on Advanced Settings.

Advanced Settings

Scroll to the bottom setting and set HDMI-CEC to Disabled.

HDMI-CEC disabled

Click on the Exit button and save the settings before going back to the channel that you wish to send to the encoder or other device. Now, the encoder should be able to see the input coming from the HDMI output of the Set Top Box.
